I know that I have not been on here for a while. This is mainly due to three things;
Firstly, I have nothing to say about anything that is of any interest or note. Secondly, I have been either working or trying to lose weight (lost about 24 lbs) and thirdly, I have been reading more so that I have diverted my energies there.
In the time between the last post and this several things have happened. Firstly, I have grown to love Man v Food. Yes, it is repetitive and yes, it is not a good idea to watch whilst on a diet. Secondly, I became immersed in two books. The first being Jeff Abbott’s “Cut and Run” and the second being Frank Mclynn’s biography of Napoleon.
Jeff Abbott writes thrillers that are fast paced and just on the edge of believable. They are also well written and fun – in a ‘I am at an airport and want something crap but entertaining’ way. I wasn’t at an airport but I had previously read “Fear” and enjoyed that.
Frank Mclynn’s Napoleon is equally well written and enjoyable. It is meticulously researched and, interestingly, well-balanced. It does not take the Anglocentric view of him as a miniature madman nor does it hold Napoleon up to be the greatest military mind of all time. It shows him as a flawed, ambitious and human individual. I had also read his biography of Marcus Arileus and this is much better.
Also, we have new neighbours and they are being rather noisey so, you know, fuck them.
Plus Burnley won 1-5 and won me €15
